General Information:

Class Times:

Our Hebrew School meets Wednesday afternoon from 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm, and Sunday morning from 9 am to noon.  Our Tots for Torah program meets two Sundays a month (please see the Calendar for exact dates) from 9 am to noon.

Location:

Our school is located at Temple Sinai in Marblehead (One Community Road - across from the JCC).  Please enter through the doors closest to the JCC building.  You may pick up your child at the same doors: Heather will walk the children out to meet you.

Snacks:

North Shore Hebrew School will provide healthy, kosher snacks mid-class both Wednesday and Sunday.  If you would prefer to send a snack with your child, please make sure that it is kosher, and does not contain any nuts.

Tuition:

Our Tots for Torah program is $236 for both affiliated and non-affiliated members.  This includes the $36 resource fee.

The Hebrew School is $660 for members of one of our affiliated Temples (which includes a $60 resource fee).  If you are NOT affiliated with one of our Temples, tuition for the 2007 / 08 year is $660 (which includes a $60 resource fee).  Please note that we are extending the unaffiliated “matching tuition” program for the 2007 / 08 year.

We do offer financial assistance, and our philosophy is that no Jewish child should be denied a Hebrew School education, no matter what the reason.  If you would like your child to attend our school, and you have special circumstances, please feel free to contact our Director, Heather Greenberg, by calling the school at (978) 740-1836, or by clicking here.  Your inquiry will be handled with strict confidentiality.

Special Needs:

Our Director, Heather Greenberg, has a background in Special Needs Integration Education.  If your child is on an IEP, or has any special needs, our school is happy to make accommodations at no additional charge.  For more information, please feel free to contact our Director, Heather Greenberg, by calling the school at (978) 740-1836, or by clicking here.

North Shore Hebrew School Goals:

We want our children to live their lives as Jewish individuals within a Jewish community:

  • To take part in synagogue life;

  • To incorporate Jewish values and ethics into all that they do

  • To see the wonder and beauty of the world that surrounds us, and to remember to say an occasional blessing because of it;

  • To treat their friends, family, and peers with honesty and respect;

  • To live as part of a Jewish family; and

  • To include their families within Jewish congregational and synagogue life

Above all, we want them to do these things willingly and joyfully, and to one day send their children to religious school while remembering with love, their own Jewish school years.

With these goals in mind, we teach:

  • Torah: the history of our people, our mitzvoth - our laws and ethics;

  • Jewish Living: our holidays, rituals, and celebrations;

  • Hebrew: the language of the Torah, prayer, and the modern state of Israel;

  • Prayer: how to pray from the Siddur; how to pray from the heart; how to pray for the community; how to pray for oneself;

  • Israel: what it has meant throughout the generations, and what it means to us and to the world today.

And we encourage our families:

  • To be involved in Jewish education - their children's and their own;

  • To celebrate Judaism in their homes;

  • To participate in Jewish community and synagogue life;

  • To feel at home in our school.
